How to smudge your eyeliner naturally
Posted on 06 July 2021
Don’t get us wrong. We love a dramatic cat eye or a sharp winged flick as much as the next person. But sometimes your look calls for a more natural, smoky, smudged effect.
With the right products and a bit of know-how, anyone can pull off this sultry look. To make sure you’re less ‘panda’ and more ‘smoky perfection’, read our simple step by step.
How to apply your smudge stick like a pro
Looking for a quick lived-in eyeliner win? Here’s your six-step guide to creating the ultimate smudged eye vibe.
1 It all begins with a primer: For maximum staying power start by applying a sweep of eye primer to your lid.
2 Add eyeshadow to the crease: Applying a layer of eyeshadow along the crease of your eyelid helps give the look more dimension.
3 Apply your smudge stick to your lash line: Start with a thin line and keep adding to build more shape. Choosing a highly pigmented, waterproof eyeliner will give you an intense look and plenty of staying power.
4 Get smudging: Using either a brush or your fingers, work backwards and forwards along the liner to blend it into a smudge shadow.
5 Repeat on the lower lid: To fully frame your eyes, repeat steps 3 and 4 on the lower lid.
6 One final tip: Because a lived-in liner creates a ‘messier’ look, go for a pared down look on the rest of your face.
Some say messy. We say magnificent. It’s time to make your eyes the star of the show with Stila’s Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner.
